Fans from around the world can stop counting down
the days as the 2014 FIFA World Cup officially kicked off on Thursday 12th
with a colourful opening ceremony. Football fever is once again spreading
across the planet.
Although none of the ASEAN countries have made it to
Brazil, the World Cup games is bringing the same excitement to football fans in
Southeast Asia as any other region.
For Thailand, one of the most football loving
nations in the world, the fever could be seen from World Cup decorations at
many places. Not only in Bangkok but various parts of the country are decorated
with national flags of soccer teams participating in the 20th FIFA
World Cup.
Moreover, the country’s many soccer fans are able to
watch all of the tournament’s 64 matches for free. Thanks to Thai military
attempt to return happiness to people after last month’s military coup.
The football World Cup has started so ASEAN CORNER
decided to jump on the bandwagon and provide various educational tools and resources
related to the 2014 World Cup. Please stay tuned!
