End of Month Review – February 2012

AC ขอพาทุกท่านไปทำความรู้จักกับท่าอากาศยานนานาชาติของประเทศสมาชิกอาเซียนทั้ง 10 ประเทศกัน ซึ่งบางแห่งมีชื่อเสียงติดอันดับโลก

Brunei International Airport
Brunei International Airport is the primary airport in the nation of Brunei. The airport consists of an international terminal which can handle up to 2 million passengers, a cargo terminal with a capacity of 50,000 tonnes of cargo and a royal terminal where the His Majesty Sultan's Flight is based at.

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport
Soekarno–Hatta International Airport  is the main airport serving the greater Jakarta area on the island of Java, Indonesia. The airport is named after the first President of Indonesia, Soekarno, and the first vice-president, Mohammad Hatta. Located about 20 km west of Jakarta, in Tangerang, Banten. In 2011, Soekarno-Hatta was ranked 15th amongst the world's busiest airports by passenger traffic (5th busiest in Asia) and has surpassed Singapore Changi Airport.

Wattay International Airport
Wattay International Airport is one of the few international airports in Laos. It is located 3 km  outside its capital, Vientiane. The airport consists of an old and small domestic terminal and a new international terminal. There is a military (air force) installation at one end of the airport.

Kuala Lumpur International Airport
Kuala Lumpur International Airport or KLIA serves the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, and is one of Southeast Asia's largest airports. It is also Malaysia's main international airport. It is situated in the Sepang district, in the south of the state of Selangor, about 50 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur.

Yangon International Airport
Yangon International Airport located in Mingaladon, at 15 kilometres north of downtown Yangon, is the primary international airport of Myanmar and the second largest airport in country.

Ninoy Aquino International Airport
The Ninoy Aquino International Airport is the airport serving the general area of Manila and its surrounding metropolitan area. Located along the border between Pasay and Parañaque, about seven kilometers south of Manila proper, and southwest of Makati. NAIA is the main international gateway for travelers to the Philippines and is the hub for all Philippine airlines. The airport is named after the late Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino, Jr., who was assassinated at the airport in 1983.

Singapore Changi Airport , Changi International Airport, or simply Changi Airport, is the main airport in Singapore. A major aviation hub in Southeast Asia, it is about 17.2 kilometres north-east from the commercial centre in Changi, on a 13 square kilometres site.

Suvarnabhumi Airport
Suvarnabhumi Airport also known as (New) Bangkok International Airport, is an international airport serving Bangkok, Thailand. It was officially opened for limited domestic flight service on 15 September 2006, and opened for most domestic and all international commercial flights on 28 September 2006.The airport is currently the main hub for Thai Airways International, Bangkok Airways, Orient Thai Airlines, and Thai AirAsia. It also serves as regional gateway and connecting point for various foreign carriers.
The airport is located in Racha Thewa in Bang Phli district, Samut Prakan Province, about 25 kilometres east of downtown Bangkok. The name Suvarnabhumi was chosen by King Bhumibol Adulyadej and refers to the golden kingdom hypothesised to have been located somewhere in Southeast Asia.

Noi Bai International Airpot
Noi Boi International Airport in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is the largest airport in the north of the country. It is 45 kilometres from the city centre. The travel time from the city centre is 30–45 minutes.

ASEAN Corner News Roundup: 6.8 Magnitude Earthquake in Philippines

A 6.8 earthquake hit the central Philippines on Monday , killing at least one person and causing panic in cities where buildings shook, authorities said.
The quake hit 70 kilometres (44 miles) north of the city of Dumaguete on Negros Island at 11:49 am (0349 GMT) at a depth of 46 kilometres, the US Geological Survey said.
The quake hit at 11:49 a.m. local time off of the island of Negros, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Filipino officials issued a tsunami warning on Monday morning, but it has since been recalled.
The tremors triggered a mudslide near the city of Guihulngan, burying 30 houses and trapping 40 or more people under collapsed buildings.
Troops and rescue workers were dispatched with shovels and digging equipment. Ten died in Guihulngan, including student at an elementary school that collapsed and people inside a market. An additional 100 were injured.
The damage was most severe in Negros Oriental's mountain region, where another landslide buried an unknown number of people in La Libertad.

Major Airlines of Southeast Asia สายการบินประจำชาติของประเทศสมาชิกอาเซียน

Airplane travel is one of the most common forms of transportation to get to overseas destinations. Let's explore ASEAN by flying with these flag-carrying airlines.

Royal Brunei Airlines

Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA) is the flag carrier airline of the Sultanate of Brunei, it has its hub at Brunei International Airport, at Brunei's capital Bandar Seri Begawan.

Cambodia Angkor Air

Cambodia Angkor Air is the national flag carrier airline of Cambodia, Main Hub: Phnom Penh International Airport, Phnom Penh

Garuda Indonesia

Laos' national carrier is based in Vientiane the capital of Lao PDR. Lao Airlines is operating domestic services and international services to Cambodia, China, Thailand and Vietnam. Its main base is Wattay International Airport, Vientiane. 

Malaysia Airlines

Malaysia Airline is the flag carrier of Malaysia it serves over 100 destinations in Asia, Australia, USA and Europe. The airline has its main base at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), near Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur. 

Myanmar Airways International

Myanmar Airways is Myanmar's flag carrier. Myanma Airways and Region Air formed a joint venture Airline called Myanmar Airways International (MAI). Myanma Airways operates domestic flights only while Myanmar Airways International operates international flights to Bangkok, Guangzhou (China), Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Main Hub is Yangon International Airport (RGN)


Philippines Airlines

Philippine Airlines is the national carrier of the Philippines. PAL has its main hubs at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MIA), Manila and Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB) near Cebu City.


Singapore Airlines

The flag carrier of Singapore serves over 90 destinations in 40 countries, its main hub is at Singapore's Changi Airport (SIN).The airline's website has information to routes, schedules, inflight dining and online reservations. 

Thai Airways International

Thai Airways International is Thailand's national carrier and largest airline of Thailand. The airline's main hub is at Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), Bangkok Thai Airways has a fleet of 99 aircraft and operates flights to over 70 destinations world-wide.

Vietnam Airlines

Vietnam Airlines is the national flag carrier of Vietnam. It serves domestic destinations and destinations in Indochina, South East and North Asia, Australia, Europe and the United States. The company operates hubs at Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) near Hanoi and Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN), Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
