A - AirAsia 

AirAsia Flight QZ 8501 went missing from Surabaya, Indonesia's second larhest city, to Singapore on Dec 28th.

B - Bangkok

Bangkok is the world’s second top destination city after first-ranked London, according to MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index for 2014.  

C - Coup 

Thailand’s army seized control of the country and suspended the constitution on May 23rd.

D - Drug trafficking 

A Thai woman was sentenced to death after a Malaysian high court found her guilty of trafficking drugs.

E - Election

General Elections are due in Myanmar towards the end of 2015.

F - Flood

Malaysia is facing the worst flood in a decade.

G - Gay sex

Indonesia's Aceh province passed an anti-homosexuality law that punishes gay sex with 100 lashes of the cane.

H - Hagupit

Hagupit is a powerful typhoon that reached the Philippines in December 2014.

I - iPhone 6

Singapore was one of the first launch countries for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus this year.

J - Joko Widodo

Joko Widodo, or Jokowi as he is popularly known, became the current President of Indonesia. 


K - Khmer Rouge

Two former top leaders of Khmer Rouge, which ruled Cambodia between 1975 and 1979, were found guilty of crimes against humanity by a UN-backed court in Cambodia.

L - Landslide

Floods and landslides have repeatedly battered Indonesia in recent years.

M - Malaysia Airlines

For Malaysia, 2014 was a horrible year for air travel. Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 went missing on March 8 on a trip from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing and the 239 people onboard have not been found.

Just four months later, July 17, Malaysia Airlines flight MH 17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was shot down near the Ukraine-Russia border.
