Although Thailand’s senate has defeated an amnesty
bill which could have paved way for ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra to
return home without facing trial, anti-Thaksin demonstrators set new targets
after amnesty bill had been withdrawn. They vowed to continue their protests to
bring down the government led by Thaksin’s sister, prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

Typhoon Haiyan – also known as Typhoon Yolanda,
battered six central Philippine islands on Nov.8. It is estimated to be one of
the most powerful storms ever recorded in the history of the Philippines.
Tacloban City in Leyte province is one of the
hardest-hit localities. The death toll from this storm has spiked to more than
5,000. In the aftermath, tons of food and medical items have arrived in the
storm-hit area and many countries are still sending humanitarian aid to the
Philippines.
