-The East Asia Summit (EAS) is a forum held annually by leaders of, initially, 16 countries in the East Asian region. Membership expanded to 18 countries at the Sixth EAS in 2011.
-The East Asia Summit is also known as the ASEAN Plus Six Summit.
-The
first summit was held in Kuala Lumpur on December 14, 2005.
-Membership
of the EAS comprises the ten ASEAN countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia,
Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam),
Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, the United
States and Russia.
